Rebreather.....But Not Sure?
Over the years various discussions evolved about the likelihood of recreational rebreathers entering the market place. This year at the DEMA Trade Show, many recreational units were shown and several of the more well known training agencies such as PSA & TDI were pushing courses for the entry-level diver.
In a room full of CCR cave and technical divers, you can imagine that the conversation was lively about what a disaster this could be. We would argue that anyone that thinks that re breathers WON’T be filling the recreational scuba shops of the future is kidding themselves. Ten years ago we would not have believed it ourselves, many people doubted that technical divers could ever create a viable market for rebreathers, taking rebreathers to 150+ meters, never they said! Now, you can’t go to any dive site or boat without seeing six or seven different units on the backs of divers. Manufacturers are beginning to see the writing on the wall.
The biggest opportunity for growth is in simplicity and creating a rig that will allow someone to safely dive in entry-level applications. Finally, we now believe this can be done safely if proper training and guidelines are adhered to. It may be that for some individuals such as photographers, the best way forward is the remarkable Cis Lunar Mk6 rebreather or, for those that are interested in new, user friendly exciting technology, or simply just closer encounters with fish!
Technical Diving
Under the skilled gazes of Neil Brock, Jack Ingle and Martyn Farr we can help you take your diving further in the pursuit of going deeper, darker for longer. Or, diving into the bowels of the earth in search of sights rarely seen by man, or taking your first steps into the silent world of rebreather diving.
Our technical intructors live and breathe diving and each has been diving for over 25 years and it is this experience that they offer you as well as their technical expertise. Each one has carved out a well earned reputation within and without their respective spheres of diving.
Neil, Jack and Martyn are instructor trainers, so if you meet all the criteria and have the experience and knowledge, we can assist you in becoming a nitrox instructor through to an advanced trimix instructor, you set your own goals.
If you're interested in pushing your skills to the limit or trying your hand at something completely new then check out our
Technical Diving section for further information on courses or
