-- Technical Training

Technical Training Overview

At Bristol Channel our philosophy of business is fundamentally different than some of our competitors. We don’t push one training organizations philosophy, we look at which will be most appropriate for you; the physics of diving are the same whichever hat you choose to wear, but the slant of your hat might be different to the next persons !

At BCD you’ll be pleasantly surprised to discover that our training programs are affordable and, well organized, what you see is what you get. Not only will you learn the theory, you will more importantly learn how to put this into practice and use the new skills with confidence, because we don’t just want your money today. We are more concerned about creating a diver that will in turn be our valued customer for many years.

We know that you have many choices in where and how to spend your hard earned funds. We try to regard the customer as king. We want to earn your business every day, by giving you a better product with better value (value = price and quality) and, backing it up with what we think is better service!

Bottom Line

Our advice can help your ‘bottom line’ as well as your bottom time! That’s because we understand what divers want from a training agency. You want your certification cards and certificates processed promptly.

You want texts, guides, and other support materials as well as well-written manuals, and, easy to work from as a student. Most students who have had a chance to read the manuals and materials immediately realise the higher quality and the fair prices.

Our instructor, Neil Brock, is one of the best in the industry in open circuit diving and regulator servicing, he has worked alongside some of the industry’s leading exponents in training and expedition diving. Our variety of training materials are of top quality. Our products are frequently sold even if you do not sign up for a course because you still need to be furthering your education and skills.

We go one step further, we are committed to helping you from the moment you take a course onwards, finished your course? Still got a question? Call in or ring us, we will continue to support you.

Advice & Support

Because we’re in this business for the long haul, we want the best reputation and your recommendations form a large part of our success!

Choose your instructor, not the agency.

Neil has 34 years experience in the diving industry and will take you through the continuation of your open circuit diving or your first forays into equipment servicing. For cavern and cave courses Martyn Farr will be your instructor and for re-breathers, Jack Ingle. You will struggle to find better, or more experienced instructors (even though we all still look like youngsters!). We can show you how to incorporate technical training into your diving repertoire. We can objectively offer advice on which manufacturers will support you and offer the best quality life support equipment in this specialist market. Through hands-on experience at our training center, we can get you up and running with professional training.

Do you feel you have what it takes to meet the standard to become an instructor yourself ? We can bring the best out in you and are a PSAI Instructor Development Centre, Neil offers personal training in the field of instructor training from Nitrox instructor through to Advanced Trimix instructor.

From an instructors perspective, we will guide you through the various Diving at Work regulations, ACoPS and Health & Safety aspects of instructing. From the paperwork required through to topics ranging from practical risk assessment, dive planning, first aid requirements, dive team structuring and the many aspects of conducting diving operations within the framework of UK legislation.

We do not expect you to buy twinsets and side mounts, or trimix computers before taking part in a course, we can loan you the pre requisite equipment to enable you to get the course completed. This allows you to form a sound understanding of what works for you, and, what does not, before you spend your money on equipment.

PSAI, TDI, SDI & IANTD Courses

At BCD we don’t wish to foster or encourage the tendency to create new or different courses just to have more things to sell! This cheats the student and also makes technical training subject to more criticism from outsiders.

Our program offerings are based on easily definable course curricula that address the specific educational and practical dive training necessary. The physics of diving are the same no matter the badge ! Choose your instructor, not the agency.

Equipment

For all our courses requiring specialist equipment, or, equipment new to the diver, we will provide what you need so you’re not taking a purchasing gamble on what’s best for you, having not used it.

For example, if you were signing up for a trimix course we can if required, provide the student with twin 10’s, twin 12’s, Custom Diver wings, 7 & 11L side mounts, and, Suunto HeliO2 trimix computers.

If you have any questions or wish to discuss your options please call us on 02920 464846 and ask for Neil.
